About the New Tradition Jazz Ensemble

The New Tradition Jazz Ensemble is a community of musicians focused on sharing our great enjoyment of Jazz music with audiences far and wide. We view melody as a universal language and Jazz as a platform for freedom, equality and fun. Join us for lively performances, popping rhythms, exhilarating solos or simply to dance.

In 1996 Ed Micklos helped assemble a 19 piece big band in Fort Lauderdale called The Swing Masters. He was personnel manager for two and a half years before moving to the Orlando area. Wanting to recreate the same style band in central Florida and finding many interested musicians the New Tradition Jazz Ensemble began in 2004. Many members have devoted their careers to music, both teaching and performing. We all share the delight and satisfaction of crafting America's original music, Jazz.
